You Are Not an Accident — Remember Who You Are in the Sight of God
Before Anyone Knew Your Name, God Knew You
Before Anyone Knew Your Name, God Knew You
Before anyone ever knew your name, God knew you. Before anyone decided whether you were important, successful, attractive, intelligent, useful, or worthy, God had already placed value upon you. Before you accomplished anything, before you failed at anything, before you could prove yourself to anyone — you were seen by God. You were created in the image of God. Think about what that means. You are not merely a person trying to survive for a few decades on a small planet. You bear the image of your Creator. You were created with the capacity to love, reason, imagine, build, cultivate, create, serve, lead, communicate, choose, and enter into relationship with God and with others. You are not an accident. Your life has dignity because the One who gave you life has dignity. Your worth did not begin when somebody loved you, and your worth did not disappear when somebody rejected you.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
— Book of Psalms Chapter 139 Verse 13-14
Heavenly Father, thank You that I am not an accident. Before I ever knew my name, You knew me. Before I accomplished anything, You placed value upon me. Forgive me for the times I tried to write my life without You — the Author of life. Thank You that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me. Thank You that my worst chapter does not have to be my final chapter. Remind me of who I am: created in Your image, redeemed by Your Son, and entrusted with a life that matters. Show me what You have placed in my hands. Teach me to steward it faithfully. Show me whom I am to serve, what I am to build, and how I am to represent You. And when my life is finished, let it be said that I faithfully represented You. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
